Incoming Sevilla boss García Pimienta eyeing reunion with Barcelona star

Soon-to-be Sevilla head coach García Pimienta has set his sights on a member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Barcelona as a leading summer target.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Ansu Fati as the player in question.

Wide-man Ansu is of course in the midst of another altogether difficult campaign, which has seen the Spanish international struggle for form and fitness alike across a loan stint in England with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 21-year-old, in turn, is set for a return to base with Barcelona in the summer.

With it considered altogether unlikely that Ansu will have a place in the plans of incoming manager Hansi Flick, however, another loan spell away from the Camp Nou is on the cards.

And one club expected to move to take advantage of as much come in the form of Sevilla.

The Nervionenses will imminently announce a change on the club’s bench, the outgoing Quique set to be replaced by Las Palmas headmaster García Pimienta.

And, as one of his first orders of business, Pimienta will seek out a reunion with Ansu.

The tactician has previous experience overseeing the attacker’s development during their time together at Barcelona, a firm believer in his talents as a result.

As per the aforementioned Sport, Sevilla, who also expressed an interest in Ansu last summer, are therefore readying a fresh assault on his signature.
