‘I’m very angry’ – Míchel admits Girona star ‘doesn’t want to play’

Girona head coach Míchel has this week dropped something of a bombshell regarding the situation of Dominik Livaković.

This comes amid confirmation that the goalkeeper as things stand has no interest in taking to the pitch in the colours of the Blanquivermells.

Croatian international Livaković for his part took his talents to Catalunya over the summer, on loan from Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahçe.

The 30-year-old, though, is yet to take to the pitch on a single occasion.

As much comes despite the ongoing struggles of Girona no.1 Paulo Gazzaniga, who has come in for widespread criticism for the level of his performances this season.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media on Thursday, the subject of Livaković’s lack of minutes was therefore put to manager Míchel.

And the visibly frustrated tactician finally broke his silence on the situation, in explaining:

“Livaković wants to leave. He doesn’t want to play here, his priority is the World Cup. Gazzaniga had to play while he was ill… because Livaković doesn’t want to play. I’m very angry about this situation.”
