Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has moved to defend his side, on the back of their alarming defeat at the hands of arch rivals Barcelona.
Real, of course, are fresh off something of a humbling late last night.
After welcoming table-topping Barcelona to the Spanish capital for a La Liga clash, Los Blancos were condemned to the wrong side of a 4-0 result, on their own turf.
In the time since, Real, in turn, have been subjected to widespread, and largely deserving condemnation.
One individual, however, who has been keen to defend the capital outfit, comes in the form of the aforementioned Carlo Ancelotti.
Drawn on his side’s performance in the aftermath of Saturday’s defeat, Ancelotti was unwavering in his stance that his side were not four goals worse than Barcelona:
“The result doesn’t reflect the game. I’ve been in football for 48 years, so I’m not wrong when I tell you that our 1st half was good.”
