Footage of Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr’s immediate reaction to the moment of individual magic conjured up by teammate Arda Güler on Saturday has come to the fore online.
The name of youngster Güler, of course, took its place front and centre in the headlines in Madrid yesterday evening.
As much came after the Turk came within inches of netting a legitimate contender for La Liga Goal of the Season.
Introduced off the bench en route to his side’s 4-2 triumph over Osasuna, Güler picked up the ball inside his own half, before driving on to the halfway line.
Spotting Osasuna no.1 Sergio Herrera off his line, the midfield starlet, in turn, took aim at goal, courtesy of a pinpoint left-footed strike.
As all at El Sadar held their collective breath, however, Güler cursed his luck, in watching his stunning effort come back off the crossbar.
Post-match, head coach Carlo Ancelotti was quick to reveal his appreciation for the 19-year-old’s moment of ingenuity, in confirming his belief that it was ‘as good as a goal’.
And the Italian was not the only one in Los Blancos’ ranks to have been left awestruck by Güler’s strike.
