Real Madrid’s players were made aware of the dismissal of manager Xabi Alonso at the same time as the club’s fanbase.
That’s according to a whole host of media outlets.
The name of tactician Alonso has of course dominated the headlines across Spain’s capital over the course of the evening to date.
As much comes after the former midfielder was officially sent on his way by Real Madrid.
After Los Blancos slipped to defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday, the parties made the call to go their separate ways with immediate effect.
And if ensuing reports doing the rounds in the hours since are anything to go by, then Alonso’s players appear to have had zero idea of what was set to transpire…
As per Marca, backed by several other reliable outlets, Real Madrid’s star-studded squad were not informed of their manager’s dismissal ahead of time.
Instead, they discovered the news through the club’s statement, at the same time as Los Blancos’ fans.
