Barcelona are set to benefit financially from La Liga rivals Real Betis’ imminent sale of midfielder Sergi Altimira.
This comes amid the widespread understanding that the 24-year-old is on the verge of taking his talents to Portugal, with Sporting CP.
As per a report from market expert Fabrizio Romano, an agreement is now in place between Sporting and Betis, over the terms of an €18 million transfer.
As alluded to above, though, the board at the Estadio Benito Villamarín are not the only ones set to benefit financially from Altimira’s move.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, owing to his time spent on the club’s books from 2012 to 2019, so too will Spanish champions Barcelona:
‘Altimira’s transfer will leave around 400,000 euros in FC Barcelona’s coffers through the solidarity mechanism, as he was trained in the club’s youth academy.’
Sabadell, the club that Altimira joined from Barca, are also entitled to a cut of the fee.
