How much will Barcelona earn for Villarreal clash in the USA?

An insight into the extent of the financial injection awaiting La Liga champions Barcelona for their history-making upcoming clash with Villarreal has been forthcoming online.

The subject of the coming season’s first scheduled meeting between Barcelona and Villarreal has of course dominated the headlines across Spain over recent days.

This comes amid the understanding that an agreement is now all but in place for the fixture to be played in the USA.

The outing, pencilled in for December, is expected to be played out in Miami, at the Hard Rock Stadium.

This marks a historic development for La Liga, set to act as the Spanish top-flight’s first official fixture to be contested outside of the country.

And as alluded to above, both clubs are in line to benefit financially from their participation…

As per a report from the reliable RAC1:

‘Barca will earn 5/6 million euros for the match against Villarreal in Miami.’

The latter, meanwhile, will be compensated even more handsomely, to make up for the lost matchday revenue at La Ceràmica.
