João Félix has been undergoing psychological treatment for some time now, according to AS. The Atlético Madrid forward has put himself in the hands of a psychologist to help him deal with his current situation at the club. The 22-year-old has gone from being the star of the team to the fifth-choice forward behind Álvaro Morata, Ángel Correa, Antoine Griezmann and Matheus Cunha. The Portuguese player needed the treatment of a professional to help him cope with the difficult times he is going through in the Spanish capital.
The former Benfica player is hugely disappointed by his lack of playing time and is desperate to get going again. AS reports that he would leave Atlético by negotiating with the club instead of falling out with the club, who paid €127m for his services.
He was warming up in the second half of the match against Club Brugge in midweek and showed his anger at not being sent on by throwing his bib to the ground. His future at Atlético appears to be up in the air and his departure could be the solution to all his problems. At the club, however, they are not willing to let him go. Diego Simeone has started the Portugal international on the bench in the club’s last four games.
