The future of Barcelona star Sergi Roberto with the club could yet be heavily impacted by the arrival of Hansi Flick.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has this week provided an insight into the situation.
Roberto’s future, until just last week, had looked a closed case.
This came with the versatile midfielder and his entourage having been locked in lengthy negotiations with the Barcelona brass, over the terms of a fresh one-year renewal.
As much, however, only came after the operation was given the green light by the since-departed Xavi.
It had subsequently been suggested that Roberto need not fret, with his extension having been pencilled in by Deco and co. regardless of the situation on the club’s bench.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word to have surfaced on Tuesday is anything to go by, then this, in fact, does not appear to be the case.
As per the aforementioned Fabrizio Romano, upon his arrival in Catalunya’s capital this week, one of the first orders of business for Hansi Flick will be squad planning for next season.
This includes a fresh discussion regarding Roberto’s renewal, suggesting that the final say on the 32-year-old’s future will be left up to his new manager.
