How Barcelona plan to keep João Félix & João Cancelo for next season

An insight into the plans of the powers that be at Spanish giants Barcelona to keep hold of loan pair João Cancelo and João Félix has been provided on Monday evening.

Both frontman Félix and defender Cancelo, of course, sealed temporary moves to Catalunya last summer.

And, off the bat, the Portuguese pair added a whole new dimension to Xavi’s squad, widely hailed for their impact, particularly in the attacking third.

More recent months, however, have proven an altogether different case.

Amid something of a hit-and-miss stretch of form on the part of both players, Félix, in particular, has been singled out for heavy criticism on the part of the Barcelona faithful.

And yet, when questioned on the subject by the media, Barcelona sporting director Deco has been adamant in his stance that the club intend to keep hold of his two fellow countrymen beyond the summer.

Amid the long-standing monetary woes being endured by the Blaugrana, though, just how do they intend to finance as much?

Well, an insight into precisely that has been forthcoming late tonight.

The info comes courtesy of journalist Gerard Romero of Jijantes, who, during his latest Twitch stream, confirmed that Barca do indeed intend to negotiate extended stays for both Félix and Cancelo.

Only one, though, will come on a permanent basis.

In an effort to balance costs, Deco and co. will attempt to sign Cancelo outright from Man City for a fee in the region of €20 million.

And, from here, talks will be reopened with La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid, over the terms of another one-year loan for hitman Félix.
