Hoffenheim and Valencia in talks with Barcelona for defender Óscar Mingueza

Hoffenheim and Valencia are both exploring the possibility of signing Barcelona defender Óscar Mingueza, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Mingueza is one of the players who will leave Barça this summer, despite having a contract until 2023. Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández has already told him that he can leave as he is no longer part of his plans.

Xavi revealed in May that he sat down with four or five players at the club to discuss their futures.

Riqui Puig, Samuel Umtiti, Mingueza and Martin Braithwaite are among those not in his plans for the coming season.

“I have already spoken to four or five players to make decisions. That’s what I’m here for, I have to make decisions.

“I’ve been talking to the players who won’t continue so that I can find a solution in time. You have to be honest, that’s very important,” Xavi said.

Valencia and Bundesliga side Hoffenheim are the most interested teams and talks have begun between the clubs. Barça want at least €5 million for the 23-year-old.

Dani Alves, Sergiño Dest and Ronald Araújo all featured at right-back last season, resulting in Mingueza spending more time on the bench.
