A headline member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has tonight been singled out for special praise.
The player in question? Toni Kroos.
German international Kroos is of course currently locked in action, with the aforementioned Real Madrid.
Carlo Ancelotti’s troops have welcomed Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich to the Santiago Bernabéu, for the 2nd leg of the Champions League semi-final tie between the clubs.
Kroos, as expected, was afforded a starting berth in the middle of the park, no doubt in line for another trademark masterclass.
And one individual who made clear ahead of kick-off his excitement with the opportunity to watch the German maestro in action once again was Paul Scholes.
Speaking as part of his punditry role for TNT Sports, Manchester United legend Scholes, a midfield mastermind in his own right during his playing days, could not help but wax lyrical regarding Kroos’ talents:
“Toni Kroos is amazing. I watched PSG’s game (versus Dortmund). They needed a Toni Kroos. He controls and dictates all of the game. He has all the ability. He is the key tonight.
“He makes the difference. [Thomas] Tuchel needs something that can try and limit him in any way he can. Because he dictates everything.
“Kroos is the most clever midfielder in the world,” Scholes concluded.
