‘He’s going to anger the opponent’ – Barcelona receive Lamine Yamal warning

La Liga giants Barcelona have received something of a warning, regarding their ongoing use of up-and-coming attacker Lamine Yamal.

This comes amid the suggestion that, if not properly managed, the 18-year-old could come in for a potential injury down the line.

Winger Lamine is for his part of course fresh off kicking the 2025/26 campaign into gear in style.

En route to a 3-0 Barcelona victory over RCD Mallorca on Saturday, the Spanish international proved himself the star of the show, courtesy of a goal and an assist.

Despite Mallorca having played the majority of the clash with just nine men, though, Lamine was left on the pitch for the full 90 minutes by manager Hansi Flick.

And it is such treatment which has culminated in something of a warning shot being fired at Flick and his staff early this week.

Speaking as part of his punditry role for Premier Sports, as cited by Diario Sport, former Real Madrid midfielder Steve McManaman urged caution to avoid a potential injury for Lamine:

“I’ve already said it on several occasions: I hope Barça reserve him a little and not necessarily use him in games that are going well because he’s going to infuriate the opponent with his talent.”
