Barcelona star Lamine Yamal went as far as to assure his teammates in Hansi Flick’s squad that Nico Williams was all set to join the club this summer.
That’s according to La Vanguardia, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the situation.
Wide-man Nico was of course responsible for the bombshell of the Spanish transfer window to date on Friday.
This came upon confirmation coming to the fore that the 22-year-old had put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with Athletic Club.
As much brought to an end a long-standing saga linking Nico with Barcelona, during which the winger went as far as to give his word on the terms of a contract through the summer of 2031.
Nico’s decision shocked the masses, including those in both the boardroom and the dressing room at Barcelona.
And as alluded to above, on Saturday, an insight into the surprise of the attacker’s close friend and international teammate Lamine has been provided.
As per a report from La Vanguardia:
‘Lamine woke up in Marbella to the news of his friend Nico’s decision. He didn’t find out before the rest. Nor did he say much about it. It will take him a few days to process it, as he assumed the winger would come to Barcelona.’
Prior to as much, Lamine, it is understood, went as far as to assure those around him in Barcelona that:
“It’s done, Nico’s coming.”
