Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has moved to lavish praise on a member of his defensive ranks on the back of the club’s latest outing.
The player in question? Eric García.
Spaniard Eric is for his part fresh off another starring display in the colours of the Blaugrana.
Afforded a starting berth in the club’s La Liga meeting with Athletic Club, the 24-year-old shone on both sides of the ball en route to a 4-0 Barca triumph.
Not only that, but as much came in the middle of the park, after Eric was tasked with filling in further forward owing to the respective absences of Pedri and Frenkie de Jong.
Speaking to the media post-match, the name of a player to have shone across a number of roles over the season’s early months was therefore put to manager Hansi Flick.
And the German did not hold back in his praise of Eric:
“For a coach, having a player like Eric García is something exceptional. Eric is playing at an unbelievable level.”
