With Arda Güler (18) set to return to the Real Madrid squad after suffering from injuries that have seen him sidelined for around four months, El Bar podcast discussed the young Turkish prospect ahead of his potential return against Sevilla this Saturday. However, journalist Lu Martín was less than enthused about Güler’s return, commenting, “He will be the Riqui Puig of Real Madrid”.
While others noted that “he has a good look about him and is a player we all want to see play”, his injuries are certainly a setback and he may struggle to live up to the expectations set by comments from former Real Madrid player Mesut Özil, who has previously praised the youngster.
Güler’s potential lack of end product was also raised as an issue as Santi Gimenéz (journalist) remarked, “Looking at his highlights reel, it is full of dribbles, but there aren’t any goals”. Despite their concerns, Güler is only 18 years old and has plenty of time to prove that he can be the player who rightfully caught the attention of the big European clubs before joining Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
