Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has this week come in for some fresh and altogether well-earned praise.
This comes owing to his latest performance on the international front.
De Jong was for his part in from the off once more on Monday evening, as The Netherlands locked horns with Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier.
When all was said and done, the former emerged on the right side of a 4-0 result, to book their spot at next summer’s World Cup.
And De Jong proved himself nothing short of a pivotal figure en route to as much.
Controlling proceedings from his berth in the middle of the park, the Barcelona man continued to excel in every aspect of the game.
This included laying on an assist for the game’s opening goal.
And such excellence was not at all lost on the part of Lithuania national team boss Edgaras Jankauskas.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side’s latest defeat, the tactician made use of the opportunity to single De Jong out for special praise:
“Frenkie de Jong changes the face of this team, every attack goes through him. He is involved in everything. He organizes the game and controls it.”
