Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has informed the club’s board of his desire to have Borussia Dortmund star Nico Schlotterbeck at his disposal for next season.
That’s according to Fichajes, who have on Tuesday provided the latest on the situation.
Barcelona are widely expected to dip into the market for fresh blood at the back either this coming January, or next summer.
This comes owing to both the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of Ronald Araújo, and the contract situation of Andreas Christensen (due to expire in 2026).
For this reason, a shortlist of potential signings has already been drawn up in Catalunya’s capital.
And one name on this list stands out above all others in the eyes of the aforementioned Hansi Flick.
As per a report from Fichajes, Barca’s headmaster wants to bring in Dortmund standout Nico Schlotterbeck.
German international Schlotterbeck is expected to depart Signal Iduna Park next summer, ahead of the expiration of his contract in 2027.
And though the competition for his services is fierce, Hansi Flick has ‘explicitly requested’ Deco and co. to do whatever it takes to land his man.
