Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has revealed his appreciation for the words of praise sent the way of he and his squad by club legend Lionel Messi.
Messi, for his part, added his name to the long list of public admirers of Flick’s Barca side earlier today.
Speaking during an as-of-yet unreleased interview with 3cat, as cited by Diario Sport, the Argentine international was asked for his take on the excellent start to the season being enjoyed by his former club.
And Messi, in his response, went on to explain:
“I see it as spectacular, it doesn’t surprise me.
“It’s not something new. I think it’s spectacular that the boys have the opportunity to play. When they are given confidence, they respond because they know the club and are used to the club’s way of playing. If they are accompanied, these things happen as they did in other times.”
During his ensuing pre-match press conference ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Celta Vigo on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Messi’s praise was put to Hansi Flick.
And, in his response, the Blaugran’s headmaster went on to confirm:
“It’s an honour to hear the best player in history say that he likes this Barça. He follows the team closely, he has his heart set on this club, that means a lot to the youngsters and to the team.”
