Hansi Flick readying new role for Barcelona star Pedri

Incoming Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is ready to make use of the talents of Pedri in something of a new role next season.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Friday provided an insight into the situation.

Flick, for his part, was of course unveiled as the latest installation on the bench at Barcelona earlier this week.

After embarking on a short holiday, one of the first orders of business for the German will be running the rule over his squad, to assess who fits into his plans for 2024/25.

Beyond as much, Flick will then be tasked with deciding upon a system to best utilise the talents of these players.

And one such performer for whom the 59-year-old already his plans in place, comes in the form of the aforementioned Pedri.

As per MD, Flick considers midfielder Pedri as a central figure in his project in Catalunya’s capital.

As much, however, is not expected to come in the 21-year-old’s customary role in the middle of the park.

Instead, in an effort to best utilise Pedri’s creative talents, Barca’s incoming boss intends to push the Spanish international forward into an advanced role, behind the attackers.

‘The German coach sees the Canarian as his most creative player and believes that the best thing would be to release him between the lines, just behind the striker,’ it is confirmed.
