Hansi Flick provides Pedri injury update before Barcelona vs Alavés

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an update on the wellbeing of midfield standout Pedri.

This comes amid confirmation that the 23-year-old is now ready to take to the pitch in a competitive setting once more.

Pedri has of course spent the last month on the sidelines, owing to a muscular injury suffered against Real Madrid.

The Spanish international has been forced to sit out each of Barcelona’s last five outings in all competitions as a result.

As alluded to above, though, this weekend, Pedri looks set for his long-awaited comeback.

The former Las Palmas talent was spotted back in the thick of things in training at the Ciutat Esportiva over recent days. Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of facing off with Deportivo Alavés on Saturday, Pedri’s status for the fixture was therefore put to manager Hansi Flick.

And the German tactician went on to confirm:

“Pedri is back. He will play some minutes tomorrow, but he will not start.”
