Hansi Flick provides Joan García injury update before Barcelona vs Celta Vigo

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an update on the wellbeing of goalkeeper Joan García, amid the Spaniard’s ongoing recovery from injury.

Shot-stopper Joan for his part afforded Barcelona a welcome boost over the last couple of days.

This came upon the summer arrival in Catalunya’s capital linking back up with his teammates in group training for the first time in six weeks.

Joan has been sidelined since all the way back in September, after being forced under the knife to resolve a knee injury.

His presence amongst the group at the Ciutat Esportiva had given rise to chatter that the 24-year-old could even be called up to face Celta Vigo on Sunday.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, however, Hansi Flick confirmed that this will not be the case.

Drawn on his no.1’s injury status, Barca’s headmaster explained:

“Joan García will be back after the break. We’re very pleased with his progress and we’re going to wait until the break to have him with the squad.”
