Hansi Flick provides double Barcelona fitness update before Espanyol clash

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided updates on the wellbeing of two leading members of his squad.

This of course comes ahead of the Blaugrana’s return to action tomorrow evening.

Barcelona are primed to kick their campaign back into gear on Thursday, when they make the short trip across Catalunya for a derby meeting with Espanyol.

Fresh off a comeback victory over arch rivals Real Madrid last weekend, Hansi Flick’s troops head into the matchup aware that a victory will see their status as Spanish champions for 2024/25 confirmed.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, the fitness situation in his squad was therefore put to Barca’s headmaster.

After Pau Cubarsí was forced into a premature departure from El Clásico, Flick first assured:

“Cubarsí? He’s fine. He hasn’t finished training yet, but he’ll be able to play tomorrow.”

Robert Lewandowski, meanwhile, left on the bench at the weekend amid ongoing efforts to recover full fitness following a muscular injury, is also ready to start:

“Robert Lewandowski is fine, ready to play.”
