New Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick will soon oversee a player whom predecessor Xavi was desperate to bring to the club last summer.
That’s according to Blaugrana insider Javier Miguel, who points towards Dani Olmo as the player in question.
Attacking midfielder Olmo is of course set to be unveiled as a new Barcelona player at any moment.
After the powers that be at the Camp Nou finally found common ground on a fee with their counterparts at RB Leipzig, the Euro 2024 winner flew out to Catalunya’s capital, ahead of putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.
New Barcelona headmaster Hansi Flick proved a leading voice behind the push for Olmo, eager to have the 26-year-old at his disposal in his first season at the Camp Nou.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Flick is not the only recent Blaugrana tactician to have earmarked Olmo as the ideal addition to his XI.
So too, it is understood, did predecessor Xavi Hernández.
As per the aforementioned Javier Miguel:
‘Xavi asked to sign him last summer, looking for players with Blaugrana DNA and immediate performance, as he valued, above all, his versatility and goal-scoring ability.’
In the end, the Spaniard’s pleas fell on deaf ears, owing to a lack of funds to finance such a big-money operation.
This time round, though, Barcelona’s manager has gotten his man, with the Catalans set to be all the better for it.
