Hansi Flick hints Barcelona star is no longer part of his plans

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick on Thursday for the first team appeared to admit that Marc-André ter Stegen no longer features in his plans at the club.

Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has of course been hotly tipped for a Barcelona departure throughout the summer to date.

This comes owing to both the arrival of Joan García, and the contract renewal afforded to Wojciech Szczęsny.

Until now, despite his precarious situation, Ter Stegen himself has refused to open to a potential Camp Nou exit.

But as alluded to above, if the latest comments laid out by manager Hansi Flick are anything to go by, then the writing already appears to be on the wall when it comes to the German international’s Barca future…

Flick for his part spoke to the media at the Blaugrana’s training base on Thursday morning.

And as revealed by Mundo Deportivo, during as much, the tactician was ‘clear and forceful about Ter Stegen’s situation’.

‘Flick framed the German goalkeeper’s case within the club’s complicated financial situation,’ hinting that his departure may essentially be required to help balance the books.

Not only that, but:

‘When asked specifically about the injured Marc Bernal, Ter Stegen and Gerard Martín, Flick responded only about the two youth players, while he said nothing about the goalkeeper.’
