Hansi Flick hails one Barcelona star after win over Girona

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has moved to make clear his appreciation for the efforts of one member of his squad following the club’s latest outing.

The player in question? Ronald Araújo.

Stopper Araújo has of course seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines across the evening to date.

This comes after the Uruguayan proved himself the surprise hero in Barcelona’s return to winning ways.

After the Blaugrana played host to city rivals Girona in a La Liga clash, Araújo was introduced to the fray late on, in a centre-forward role.

And the call proved to be something of a masterstroke, as the 26-year-old popped up with the game’s decisive goal deep into injury-time.

Drawn on Araújo’s name post-match, manager Hansi Flick therefore made use of the opportunity to praise an oft-criticised member of his squad:

“Ronald Araújo plays with his heart for this badge, for this club. We tried everything, and I’m happy for the club, the fans — for everyone. Hopefully, this is a step forward for us.”
