Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an insight into his decision not to depend on either Ronald Araújo or Andreas Christensen from the off in the club’s latest outing.
Barcelona are of course currently locked in action, on the domestic front.
In their return to the pitch following the international break, the Blaugrana have welcomed Athletic Club to Catalunya’s capital, for the Spotify Camp Nou’s grand reopening.
Amid the ongoing personnel crisis in his squad, Hansi Flick nevertheless managed to put together a strong starting XI for the evening.
Forced to watch on from the bench, though, were aforementioned defensive pair Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen.
And drawn on as much ahead of kick-off, Barcelona’s headmaster provided an explanation as to why:
“Andreas and Ronald were with their national teams, and Ronald had a very long trip, and with the time difference, it’s not easy.
“We also have to think about the fact that we have a match next Tuesday.”
