Hansi Flick confirms Gabriel Jesus plans for Barcelona vs Valencia

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an insight into his plans to make use of summer signing Gabriel Jesus in the club’s next outing.

Frontman Jesus is for his part fresh off his first week of training alongside his new Barcelona teammates in Catalunya’s capital.

After swapping Premier League champions Arsenal for the Blaugrana, the Brazilian international was immediately included in his new club’s matchday call-up for this weekend.

Barca are primed to make the trip to Mestalla to face Valencia on Sunday, eyeing a fourth win from four to open the defence of their La Liga title.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Saturday, Hansi Flick was therefore asked if his side’s fans should expect to catch a first glimpse of Jesus in action in 24 hours’ time.

And the German tactician went on to confirm:

“I really liked what I saw from Gabriel during training. He’s ready to play a few minutes; we’ll see in the second half how the match is going. He’s very calm with the ball and also in front of goal.”
