Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has revealed his take that another up-and-coming member of his squad is playing at a similar level to Lamine Yamal.
The player in question? Pau Cubarsí.
Stopper Cubarsí has of course long been considered one of the first names on the team sheet in Catalunya’s capital.
Despite being just 19 years of age, the Spaniard has already emerged as something of a leader at the heart of Barcelona’s backline.
Cubarsí has come in for frequent criticism on the part of the Blaugrana faithful across the campaign to date, with many having made clear their feelings that the youngster has become somewhat overrated.
As alluded to above, though, one individual who sees the situation altogether differently is Hansi Flick.
Speaking to the media on the eve of his side’s Champions League meeting with Newcastle United, Barca headmaster Flick revealed his take that:
“For me, Pau Cubarsí is on the same level as Lamine Yamal, but in defence. How Cubarsí defends, he took a throw-in like a corner kick. He is 19 years old and can play at the highest level he can imagine…”
