Hansi Flick calls Barcelona youngster up to senior training as birthday present

An up-and-coming member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona was on Thursday afforded the chance to impress in first-team training.

That’s according to Blaugrana journalist Sergi Capdevila, who highlights Tommy Marqués as the player in question.

Youngster Tommy is for his part widely considered a potential future star in the making behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

The Spaniard is a midfielder, who chiefly operates in a deep-lying role in front of the defence.

Tommy is currently plying his trade on the books of Barca Atlètic, with whom he has racked up eight league appearances this season.

And along the way, the Spanish U19 youth international has evidently done enough to impress Hansi Flick.

This comes amid confirmation of Tommy’s surprise presence in senior training at the Ciutat Esportiva on Thursday morning.

As much came as both a reward for his impressive ongoing form at reserve level, and something of a gift on the day of his 19th birthday.
