Hansi Flick assures one Barcelona star was ‘amazing’ against PSG

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has moved to make clear his appreciation for the efforts of one member of his backline in the club’s latest outing.

The player in question? Eric García.

Stopper Eric was for his part in from the off once more on Wednesday, as Barcelona welcomed tournament holders Paris Saint-Germain to Catalunya’s capital for a Champions League clash.

And though the Blaugrana were ultimately condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 result, the former Manchester City man thoroughly impressed.

Amid what has been a brilliant start to the season on Eric’s part, he barely put a foot wrong against PSG, dominating his individual battles, acting as a crucial last line of defence on a number of occasions, and showing poise and class in possession.

Speaking to the media in the game’s aftermath, manager Hansi Flick was therefore keen to make clear his delight with his defensive star:

“When you see players like Eric García and the amazing level he delivered, that’s a good thing.”

Flick continued:

“But, for me, it’s not just about this match; we train to improve more. And today’s match will help us a lot for the future.”
