Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Sunday moved to heap praise on a member of his midfield ranks.
The player in question? Dani Olmo.
Spanish international Olmo is for his part fresh off a starring individual performance earlier today.
Afforded a starting berth in Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Real Oviedo, the former RB Leipzig man proved himself one of the fixture’s standout performers.
Olmo was responsible for the game’s opening goal, courtesy of a fine driven strike from the edge of the penalty area.
The 27-year-old then laid on the assist for Lamine Yamal to round out the scoring in a 3-0 win.
This kept alive what has been a superb recent run of form on Olmo’s part, giving rise to seven direct goal contributions in his last eight appearances.
Speaking to the media on Sunday evening, Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was therefore keen to make clear his appreciation for the talents of his midfield star:
“Dani Olmo has improved a lot in these last matches. That’s why he plays for Barça. He is capable of scoring goals, of controlling the game, and that’s what I want to see from him.”
