La Liga outfit Girona have set sights on the signature of another member of the first-team ranks at Catalan rivals Barcelona.
This comes amid the understanding that, after previously eyeing up a loan for Marc Bernal, the Blanquivermells are now keen on a similar swoop for Marc-André ter Stegen.
Goalkeeper Ter Stegen is of course widely expected to be on the move during the winter transfer window.
Having now recovered fitness following a long-term spell on the sidelines, the 33-year-old finds himself sitting third in the pecking order between the posts in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad.
Desperate to secure for himself a place on the plane to next summer’s World Cup with Germany, Ter Stegen is therefore aware that a move will be needed to carve out the necessary playing time required by Julian Nagelsmann.
And as alluded to above, ready to offer the shot-stopper precisely that are those behind the scenes at Girona.
As per a report from Fichajes, amid the ongoing woes of no.1 Paulo Gazzaniga:
‘Girona have asked Barcelona if they would accept Ter Stegen’s loan, a deal that could benefit both the German and the Catalan team.’
