Getafe star Álex Sancris has moved to defend Real Madrid attacker Vinícius Jr. amid the ongoing backlash against the Brazilian.
Wide-man Vinícius of course took his place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines once more on Sunday.
This came after the 25-year-old conjured up an all-action performance off the bench.
En route to Real Madrid putting Getafe to the sword by a goal to nil, Vinícius was on the receiving end of two challenges which culminated in red cards.
The incidents have since sparked widespread debate, with Azulones boss José Bordalás having not been shy in revealing his take that Vinícius’ play-acting proved decisive in both.
As alluded to above, though, one individual of the opinion that Real Madrid’s star winger is not deserving of such criticism is Álex Sancris.
The 2nd of Getafe’s players to have been dismissed on Sunday, attacker Sancris explained post-match:
“Was Vinícius Jr. provoking us? No. Viní just played his football and that’s it. The red card was my mistake.”
