French wonderkid snubs Real Madrid and prepares for Manchester United medical

As reported by David Ornstein, Real Madrid are set to miss out on their dream centre back target with Lille defender Leny Yoro flying to England to complete his Manchester United move.

The Reds agreed a deal for €50m with a further €12m in add-ons last week, however at the time the player had given priority to Madrid, as it was his preferred destination. Lille accepted United’s bid and were trying to persuade Yoro to move to the Premier League as their offer was far superior to Los Blancos’ €20m bid.

The Premier League giants have booked travel and medical tests for the teenager and although there is still work to be done, the deal could be announced as early as this evening. The Red Devils have offered Yoro a five-year deal with an option for a further season.

The 18-year-old, who has travelled to England with his family and agent, will earn a salary of around €7m gross plus €2m in potential bonuses. Manchester United want to get the deal completed as soon as possible to avoid any chance of other teams hijacking the deal.

Madrid have now cooled their interest in the player and are now actively looking at alternative targets. The club were willing to wait a year to sign Yoro on a free next summer and didn’t want to enter a bidding war with United this summer.

Yoro had a breakthrough season last campaign and has attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris St. Germain.
