An insight into the plans of Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso for incoming signing Franco Mastantuono has on Tuesday been provided.
The info comes courtesy of The Athletic, and points towards an ‘important’ role being readied for the Argentine starlet:
‘While he will need time to adapt once he arrives aged 18 in August, Alonso wants Mastantuono to be important from the start.’
Real Madrid’s new headmaster is understood to have played a leading role in talks to bring Mastantuono in.
So, where exactly will the young midfielder fit into Los Blancos’ XI next season?
As alluded to above, an insight into this, too, has today been forthcoming, with Mastantuono expected to share time between a pair of positions:
‘The plan is for Mastantuono to play as a right-winger but also move centrally, like a No 10, during matches.’
Fellow starlet Arda Güler, in turn, will be pushed into a deeper role in midfield.
