A former member of the defensive ranks at the likes of Espanyol and Villarreal has this week agreed on the terms of a return to Spain.
The player in question? Eric Bailly.
Stopper Bailly for his part spent the last 18 months plying his trade on the books of the aforementioned Villarreal.
As has proven the case throughout his career, however, the Ivory Coast international saw his contributions heavily restricted by fitness problems.
All told, over the length of the 2024/25 La Liga campaign, Bailly managed just 12 total appearances.
As alluded to above, though, such woes have not discouraged another of the Spanish top-flight’s clubs – in newly-promoted Real Oviedo – from this week agreeing to the terms of a contract with the 31-year-old.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:
‘Eric Bailly to Real Oviedo, here we go! Deal in place for former Man Utd and Villarreal defender. Understand Bailly is on his way to Spain right now, flying there ahead of medical on Monday.’
