A former member of the attacking ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has this week moved to make clear that he in no way regrets his decision to depart.
The player in question? Marc Guiu.
Frontman Guiu sealed an exit from Catalunya’s capital in the summer of 2024, making the move to west London with big-spending Chelsea.
The Spaniard has since gone on to endure something of a hit-and-miss time of things in England, struggling for consistent game-time in the Premier League.
As much culminated in a loan move to newly-promoted Sunderland earlier this summer.
Speaking during an interview with RAC1, as cited by Diario Sport, this week, Guiu was therefore asked whether he has any regrets regarding his call to close the Barcelona chapter of his career.
And the 19-year-old was defiant in his response:
“I don’t regret having left Barça. I left because I thought it was the best thing for my career and what I have to do now is enjoy the Premier League. It was a difficult decision, Barça gave me everything, it was my home. There were a lot of strikers and they didn’t guarantee me to be in the first team, so I think I chose the best option. Maresca called me and told me that he trusted me and the sporting project was incredible.”
