New Barcelona signing Marcus Rashford has this week received the backing of a one-time member of the attacking ranks in Catalunya’s capital.
The player in question? Rivaldo.
Frontman Rashford is of course fresh off taking to the pitch in the colours of Barcelona for the very first time.
Following his loan arrival from Manchester United last week, the Englishman was introduced off the bench in the Blaugrana’s pre-season opener against Vissel Kobe.
Rashford went on to showcase glimpses of his unquestionable talent, albeit with it evident that the 27-year-old remains some way off his very best.
One individual, though, adamant that Barca have secured for themselves a bargain in Rashford’s arrival is the aforementioned Rivaldo.
Speaking as part of his role as an ambassador for Betfair, former Blaugrana standout Rivaldo explained:
“He has been an excellent signing. He has everything to stand out, and even more so with the great coach he is going to have by his side, that will help him a lot in his development.
“Being in a different league to the English one, I think he will have more opportunities, more options to show his football and do something great there. He’s a great player, for sure, and I think he’s going to stand out very well.”
