Former Barcelona star confirms Camp Nou return ‘dream’

A one-time player and coach at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week confirmed his hopes of one day returning to the club, as manager.

The individual in question? Rafael Márquez.

Tactician Márquez is for his part of course fresh off bringing his association with Barcelona to a close, earlier this month.

Mere weeks on from agreeing to continue in his role as Barca Atlètic boss, the one-time defender made the call to move on.

As much came after Márquez was offered the role of assistant manager of the Mexican national team, with a view to taking over the reins as head coach down the line.

Speaking during his official presentation as the assistant to Javier Aguirre on Friday, the 45-year-old, in turn, went on to reveal that he is making a ‘dream’ become reality.

Interestingly, though, Márquez did not stop there.

In quotes gathered by Mundo Deportivo, the Mexican went on to reveal that he has one other ‘dream’ for the future, too… and it involves a return to Spain, with his beloved Barcelona:

“I have two dreams: to be coach of the national team and to be able to return to Barcelona one day as a coach.”
