Former Barcelona star admits move away was ‘a big f***ing mistake’

Ex-Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has this week opened up on his regret with departing the club for Premier League giants Chelsea.

This comes with the Gabonese having gone on to endure an altogether difficult time of things in west London.

Speaking during an appearance on the YouTube channel of well-known Arsenal fan ‘Troopz’ (as cited by ESPN), Aubameyang admitted:

“That was a big mistake going there. It was a f***ing big mistake.

“At that time, I had a bad moment in Barcelona. I had a home break-in and Barça needed to sell a player — me or Memphis Depay — and the only thing that was on the table was Chelsea.

“So I said, ‘Okay, for my family, I will move away, even if it’s Chelsea.

“I was thinking maybe it will be Okay, Olivier Giroud went from Arsenal to Chelsea and he had no problems. But for me it was different.”

Aubameyang, upon departing Barcelona, had spent just six months plying his trade in Blaugrana colours.

But his impact had long been made, with the goalscorer having quickly established himself as a fan favourite through his electric pace, eye for goal, and upbeat manner.

‘Auba’, all told, found the net 11 times in 18 appearances in La Liga.
