Former Barcelona star admits Hansi Flick ‘will be keeping an eye’ on him at new club

Ex-Barcelona star Pau Víctor has this week opened up on his decision to depart Catalunya’s capital, as well as his relationship with Hansi Flick.

Frontman Víctor of course brought a close to his short-lived Blaugrana stint earlier this summer.

Just a year on from seeing his arrival from Girona made permanent, the 23-year-old took his talents to Portugal, with SC Braga.

Víctor played something of a bit-part role for Barcelona last season, a regular feature off the bench, but generally only for short bursts of game-time.

Drawn on his call to depart his home country during an interview this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the Spaniard highlighted his need for a more consistent role as key.

Speaking to Jijantes, Víctor admitted:

“The year was incredible for everyone, but I needed to play and grow, and after talking with the coach, the best thing was to leave.”

Shifting focus towards his relationship with Hansi Flick, the versatile attacker was full of praise for his former boss, whom he expects to ‘keep an eye’ on matters at Braga this season:

“It’s not easy to manage the team with so many matches because you focus on the 11 or 12 who play, but Hansi was very attentive to us. He was like a father to us; he told me he would be keeping an eye on Braga.”
