Five things from Barcelona’s La Liga win over Villarreal

Barcelona are 11 points ahead of Real Madrid after beating Villarreal in La Liga on Sunday night.

Here are five things from the match at La Cerámica:

1 | Pedri shows again why Xavi wants to play him in a more advanced role. He has netted six La Liga goals this season and caused Villarreal problems with his movement, line-breaking passes and driving runs.

2 | Francis Coquelin left the La Cerámica pitch in tears. The Frenchman was stretchered off after suffering an injury to his right knee. He will undergo tests in the next few hours, although it appears to be a serious injury.

3 | Barcelona keep another clean sheet. The Catalan side have only conceded 7 goals in 21 league games this season – a phenomenal record.

4 | Ronald Araújo is one of the best defenders in the world. The Uruguayan was outstanding alongside Andreas Christensen in the heart of the defence. The Barcelona back four have been superb in front of Marc-André ter Stegen this season.

5 | Barcelona have not lost away to Villarreal since 2007.
