Fedor Smolov becomes second Celta Vigo player to defy lockdown

Russian forward Fedor Smolov has become the second Celta Vigo player to defy lockdown instructions not to leave Spain during the COVID-19 pandemic, after flying home on a private jet to be with his fiancee on her 18th birthday, according to The Guardian.

Celta’s Danish winger Pione Sisto drove 26 hours to his home in Denmark last week despite travel restrictions. Smolov is reportedly facing a fine from the Galician club when he returns from seeing Maria Yumasheva, who is the granddaughter of former Russian president Boris Yeltsin.
