An insight into the developments which led to Real Madrid star Rodrygo celebrating his opening goal on Sunday night with club physio Jaime Salom has been provided this evening.
For those who may have missed it, frontman Rodryo turned heads in Spain’s capital with his latest celebratory exploits.
The Brazilian was of course responsible for both of Real Madrid’s goals, en route to a 2-0 La Liga downing of Athletic Club late on Sunday.
After notching his first of the evening inside the opening ten minutes, Rodrygo was spotted making his way to the sideline, where he warmly embraced a member of Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching staff.
Initial reports pointed towards the individual in question as having come in the form of lead fitness coach Antonio Pintus.
It has since been revealed, however, that it was in fact a member of the medical staff, in the form of the aforementioned Jaime Salom.
Salom, for his part, lost his mother this week, but nevertheless made sure to take his place on the touchline at the Santiago Bernabéu, ready to spring into action if at all required.
And, as per a report from DAZN, Federico Valverde was quick to remind Rodrygo of as much in the aftermath of his opener against Athletic.
The latter, in turn, made a beeline for Salom, assuring the medic that “today was for you and your family”.
Salom responded with “infinite thanks”, just another example of the close bond between those on the pitch and behind the scenes at Real Madrid at present.
