In an exclusive interview with Get Football thanks to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Euro 2024 betting, Fernando Morientes revealed that Real Madrid’s 1998 Champions League victory over Juventus was the greatest moment of his career.
Morientes said: “The ‘98 Champions final against Juventus was a very special moment for Real Madrid. The club hadn’t won the Champions League for 32 years, and I’ve been in celebrations, but that was the biggest celebration that I ever experienced in Madrid or in Spain. It was such an incredible thing to live through.”
The victory was one of three Champions League trophies that Morientes lifted during his eight year spell in the Spanish capital.
This season’s Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund is on the horizon, and the Spaniard has no doubts about the winning culture at the club: “It’s such an ingrained culture that Real Madrid are champions, it’s the history of the club. They’re one of the greatest teams in Europe and they continue to show it time and time again.”
Real Madrid play Borussia Dortmund on June 1 at Wembley, with Los Blancos aiming to win their 15th Champions League.
