Ex-Barcelona star recommended signing of Liverpool attacker to Blaugrana

A former member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has revealed that he at one point proposed the signing of none other than Alexander Isak to the Camp Nou brass.

Frontman Isak is for his part of course fresh off sealing the most high-profile transfer of his career to date.

After making clear his desire for a new challenge over the summer, the Swede was ultimately granted his wish to depart Newcastle United, linking up with Premier League rivals Liverpool in a big-money move.

Earlier in his career, though, Isak spent time making a name for himself as a breakout star in the making in Spain.

This came by way of his stint on the books of Real Sociedad.

And it was during this time that fellow countryman Henrik Larsson urged those in a position of power at Barcelona to move for Isak’s signature.

Speaking during an interview with Flashscore, as cited by Diario Sport, this weekend, ex-Blaugrana frontman and coach Larsson explained:

“I spoke about him to Barcelona when I was there. They asked me for a list of strikers and I proposed Alexander Isak.”
