Celta Vigo star Marcos Alonso has admitted that he intends to celebrate, if he finds the net against Barcelona this weekend.
Defender Alonso, of course, brought a close to his stint on the books of Barcelona this past summer.
After a particularly difficult 2nd campaign in Catalunya’s capital, the 33-year-old’s contract was allowed to expire, with Alonso having subsequently been snapped up by Celta Vigo.
The one-time Chelsea man has since gone on to establish himself as an altogether more prominent figure in Claudio Giráldez’s setup, a regular feature in the back-three made use of by Celta’s headmaster.
Alonso, as a result, will be expected to feature from the off once more this weekend, when the Celestes play host to his former employers, in Barcelona.
Speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo on Thursday, a number of topics surrounding his Blaugrana stint were, in turn, put to the Spaniard himself.
And perhaps the most noteworthy takeaway of all came upon Alonso confirming that, in the case of finding the net against Barca, he will not hesitate in celebrating:
“I have always done that when I have scored.”
The stopper was also keen to make clear, though:
“I don’t need any revenge. Last year I didn’t have any continuity and it’s complicated, especially because of the injury. Now I’m enjoying football again, I’m very happy, and I’m really looking forward to the match.”
