New Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has informed the club’s board of his readiness to play a direct role in efforts to land the club’s leading summer target.
The player in question? Joshua Kimmich.
It is of course common knowledge that the Barcelona brass have long earmarked Bayern Munich star Kimmich as their priority profile to reinforce the base of the club’s midfield with a view to next season.
After the departing Xavi previously gave the green light to the operation, the incoming Hansi Flick has done likewise, too.
A contract proposal has already been laid out to the German international, albeit with Kimmich having knocked as much back on monetary grounds.
Aware that Barca face something of an uphill task in convincing their no.1 midfield target to lower his wage demands, Flick, in turn, is ready to step in.
The 59-year-old boasts a strong relationship with Kimmich, owing to their shared time together at Bayern Munich.
And Flick is ready to do ‘everything in his power’ to make a reunion in La Liga a reality.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘The coach has already informed Deco and Joan Laporta that he is willing to help with everything in his power. In that sense, Hansi would try to convince the player to join the project that he has just started at Barça.’
It now remains to be seen whether as much proves enough to convince Kimmich…
