A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit RCD Espanyol has this week seen the release clause included in his contract increase in value.
The player in question? Omar El Hilali.
Right-back El Hilali has for his part long been considered one of the standout players in Espanyol’s squad.
After a stellar individual campaign in 2024/25, the 21-year-old was sought out by a number of clubs on the transfer market this past summer.
In the end, however, those behind the scenes at the RCDE Stadium did enough to keep hold of their defensive gem.
And as alluded to above, early this week, Espanyol’s position when it comes to El Hilali’s future has been strengthened further.
This comes after the youngster was afforded his senior debut with the Moroccan national team.
As per a report from Spanish football insider Guillem Balague, cited by Mundo Deportivo, El Hilali’s Pericos release clause has risen from €25 million to €30 million.
